Frank Bruno was in sparkling form yesterday as the main guest at the London Sporting Club March lunch. The former heavyweight boxing champion of the world spoke both with great humour about the highs and lows he has experienced in and out of the boxing ring, and also with incredible honesty and bravery about his battle with mental health problems. The packed dining room at Morton's were either laughing or spellbound by one of the most popular figures still in British sport. There was also a fund raiser for the Frank Bruno Foundation which gives people with mental health issues, depression and stress the chance to fight back using non contact boxing and well-being courses rather than medication. As the lunch came to an end Frank received a standing ovation from an appreciative crowd. Other guests included former rugby league legend Andy Gregory, former England test bowler Tim Munton, parlaympic rowing gold medallist David Smith and film actress Simona Roman.
