Fourteen years ago Great Britain were bit part players in world cycling. Fourteen years on this country dominates the sport. Much of the credit must go to our breakfast guest in Manchester, Sir Dave Brailsford. The former Performance Director for British Cycling oversaw the likes of Sir Chris Hoy, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Victoria Pendleton, Jason Kenny, Laura Trott and many more clean up in the velodromes around the world whilst British cyclists claimed more wins on the road, on the BMX and mountain bikes. At both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games Team GB won an astonishing eight gold medals. Between 2007-13 GB won 59 world titles. Turning his attention to the coveted Tour de France Brailsford, who became Team Sky General Manager, announced a British rider would win in five years. He was wrong. It took three. After Wiggins won in 2012 Chris Froome won the yellow jersey four times in the next five years before, this year, Geraint Thomas claimed the biggest title in the sport. All of this was under Brailsford's watch. Come and listen to this amazing success story over breakfast, meet like-minded members and be inspired by a man who took all his doubters on - and won.
