Sam Warburton was the star turn yesterday at the monthly London Sporting Club lunch in Mayfair as he told a spellbound audience all about his career, from playing football at school with Gareth Bale to becoming Wales rugby captain at 22, to being sent off in a world cup semi final, winning two Grand Slams and finally captaining the British & Irish Lions in two tours, including last summer's drawn series in New Zealand. Ahead lies the 2018 Six Nations, the 2019 World Cup and maybe even the 2021 Lions tour to South Africa for a man, still 29, who proved to be a massive hit with our members. Ex Spurs star Paul Miller was in attendance, as was Olympic badminton silver medallist Gail Emms and former England and Wasps rugby star Damien Hopley. LSC member John Shepherd, Sport Mobile CEO, also spoke about his money-raising efforts for Wellchild before a "heads and tails" raised over £1,000 for the charity.
